Layoffs aren’t rare anymore. They’re routine, especially if you’re in tech, healthcare, or finance.

This month (August 2025), another wave is rolling through; Or announcements have been made.

Maybe it affects you, maybe a friend, or maybe it’s just a wake-up call to stay sharp.

Either way, here’s what’s going on across 10 major companies in the U.S.

1. Microsoft

We all thought Microsoft would slow down after previous rounds of cuts this year, but here we are again. They’ve filed new WARN notices and are expected to lay off between 500 and 1,000 employees this August.

The affected departments haven’t all been named, but insiders point toward roles in cloud infrastructure and support.

With all the AI money they’re throwing around, something’s got to balance the books — and unfortunately, it’s often people.

2. Georgia-Pacific

You probably know them for paper towels and plywood, but Georgia-Pacific is more than just household products. They’re planning a large layoff — also in the 500 to 1,000 employee range.
