Millions of drivers in the United States may be entitled to thousands of dollars from Kia and Hyundai.

The potential payout could be a bit over $3,000. However, there is a deadline for filing the claim, and that deadline is in the very near future.

Note: One of the eligibility requirements is that you need to have owned or own a car made from Hyundai or Kia. Only eligible models apply.

Why Is Kia and Hyundai Offering Payouts

Well, Kia and Hyundai were faced with claims throughout a number of states in America. The claims accused the automakers that their vehicles were an easy target for thieves, due to lack of proper anti-theft features.

The automakers and claimants reached a settlement wort $145 million.

The Security Issues At Hand

The main issue at hand seems to be that Kia and Hyundai kept relying on traditional turn-key ignition systems; While at the same time their competitors started to incorporate engine immobilizers into their vehicles.
