I’ve Cancelled My Membership

Nope, this isn’t clickbait or anything like that. I just cancelled my membership here on Medium.

On September 10th, my paid membership is gone. There’s a few reasons why I decided to do this. Generally speaking, there’s four main things, which will be quickly discussed below.

But who knows, I might get the membership back one of these days, but as it stands now, I’m confident I won’t be paying to use Medium any longer; Or to access member stories and other features.

Reasons I Canceled My Medium Membership

The New Layout

It appears there is a brand new layout for the desktop version of Medium. And honestly, I am not a fan of it at all. In fact, this was the final “nail in the coffin” for my decision to cancel my Medium membership.

The previous layout was far far far better than the one I just currently landed on.

There’s a handful of reasons why I don’t like this layout, but it is not exactly easy to navigate articles I actually want to read. And that brings me to the next reason…
