“Provide and Protect” or “I’m an Investment” — A Relationship Reality Check
Note: This is just my thoughts and opinions. It’s more of just a general thing, if this makes sense.
When it comes to love, dating, and relationships, there’s a common narrative that emerges in certain circles, especially across social media: the idea of “provide and protect” versus, and/or “I’m an investment.”
While both phrases seem to offer a roadmap for how people envision romantic dynamics, they can actually reveal deeper truths about who should, and shouldn’t, be part of the same social circles.
The hard truth is, people who operate on these principles often don’t belong in the same sphere.
The Origins of “Provide and Protect”
The concept of “provide and protect” stems from traditional relationship roles where one partner, usually the man, is seen as the provider — someone who brings financial stability, safety, and structure to the relationship.
It’s rooted in an age-old belief that a solid relationship is built on a man’s ability to provide a home, resources, and security for his partner and family.
