I’ve covered the topic of “provide and protect” many times. I might even go as far as saying it’s a topic that I am passionate about.

This whole “provide and protect” stuff is fairly mainstream now, and I think it’s because of social media. Years ago, I never really heard people throw that phrase around on the internet.

That being said, I think “provide and protect” can be abused or misused by both men and women.

1. Emotional Manipulation

Emotional manipulation is when the “provider” uses guilt or obligation to control their partner’s emotions and actions.

This often involves subtle comments that make the partner feel indebted or wrong for asserting their own needs.

Example Scenario:

“After all I do for you, you’re questioning my decisions?”
